Friday News

We’ve done it, it may feel like a marathon or a sprint, but we have done it and we all deserve a gold medal!
We want to Celebrate with the children who chose to pray the prayer to be a friend of Jesus. Hooray!
Today we have discovered that when God gives us a dream, we should stand and be counted.  Many groups have now heard how their leaders came to follow Jesus too, and where their dreams lie.
Well done to all the children who learnt the memory verse! I hope they have all now received their prize.
We’d LOVE to hear your feedback! We love to hear your stories of holiday club. To know the bits you or your child loved or hated. We are always looking to make it better. So please do talk, write, email us and give us your feedback.
Enjoyed Holiday club, but don’t know what to do next...? Then have a look on the sheet sent home or at some of the things in the parent point tent. They are all run by people on the team who have a love of children, and are keen to see them learn more about Jesus.  We always love to see people try us out! For more information start by talking to Caroline or your group leader... They may not know it all, but would know how to get you the information you need!
You could also go onto the website below, for Bible based games. www.bigideafun.com/veggietales follow the links to the games. Many impart Bible stories and show a good way to live.
Holiday Club is run as a huge team effort run by all the churches in Buckingham and many villages around. We all want to THANK YOU for lending us your children; we’ve loved it and hope to see you at our next event Lite Nite October 31st and at Holiday club 9th – 13th Aug 2010. Check the website www.holidayclub.inbuckingham.co.uk for registration details.

Thursday News

I can’t believe that we’ve only got one more day left……. We’ve had a great day.  It was great to meet so many of you at the picnic yesterday.
Today we realised that God can use anyone to fulfil His dreams (purpose) and when our dreams line up with God’s purposes then exciting things can happen
Can your child tell you 3 things they learnt about Paul?
We have had a technical hitch with the prizes for learning the memory verse if you are in yr 4 and 5 – hopefully it will be resolved by tomorrow. So if you haven’t completed your card for learning the memory verse… try hard tonight and you’ll get one tomorrow! "In God’s great mercy he has caused us to be born again into a living hope, because Jesus Christ rose from the dead."
Don’t forget... Tomorrow night is the Celebration and BBQ. Please bring your child at 5.45 (not before) having been to the toilet at home first (there will be a lot of people and not many loos) Please can your child go to the ‘tower room’ while you get your seat. We will then introduce the teams ‘olympic style’. This will be your last chance to hear those chants… maybe! BBQ to follow.
We’re sure that by now you’ve heard snatches of the songs that we are singing here at where dreams come true. Well now we can offer you the opportunity to buy those songs to have in your car, for your child to play in his/her bedroom, or a wherever you listen to music. Some of our songs and similar are coming from 3 cd’s  - Little Angels (aimed at 0-4yrs) Massive (aimed at 4-8 yrs) and Unleashed (aimed at 8-10yrs). All of these will be available for sale at the Friday BBQ or from www.new-wine.org.uk
Joke of the day
The joke chosen by Kay and Chris today was: Why did the banana go to hospital? It wasn’t peeling well!!!!

Wednesday News

We hope you are all enjoying 'Where dreams come true 2009' and are learning what it might mean to have our dreams come true through Jesus.
Today we have been discovering that when our dreams go wrong, God is always there. We have looked at the cross and especially at the thief who talked to Jesus while he was on the cross. And wondered what happened next...
We have also continued to make our banners, and continued with games, messiness and craft.
We have been using Bibles that are appropriate to the age of the children. If you would like to see a copy, then please ask Caroline, or your child’s group leader.  We will be selling similar Bibles at the BBQ (Friday 6.00), so if you’re child is interested then have a look.
Games team news
Tuesdays winners of the indoor games the whole of exploration zone! Well done to all – especially Hannah Start the only one from her group to compete!
Does your child know the theme song yet? It will be sung over and over again as they come together and as they are sent back to their groups. Listen carefully as they come out, you might catch a little snippet!
What Next?
Holiday Club is run by a group of churches in Buckingham. Why not pop along to find some familiar faces? Watch out for the 'What next?' Sheet coming out later this week for more details.
Children why don’t you make sure you tell your parents what Kay was talking about at the end of this morning.
Joke of the day
We’ve had so many jokes we’ve put them on the board at the front of church. Chris will tell the best each day! Today’s is... Who is a wizard, wears glasses and sits on the toilet? Harry Plopper!!

Tuesday News

We are all getting into the swing of it now… and smiling despite the forecast!

Today we have been discovering that God’s dreams (purposes) always come true (God keeps his promises). We can trust God to fulfil His promises and help us live our dreams.

Memory Verse

This week we are learning a verse from the Bible. It would be great if you could help your child learn it, and if they can tell everyone they meet even better

"Faith makes us sure of what we hope for and gives us proof of what we cannot see." Hebrews 11 verse 1

Each day we will be 'unpacking' what this might mean for the children, and how it might affect the way they live their lives.

Don’t forget...

  • Wednesday is picnic day! We will picnic inside if it is wet!
  • Friday 6.00 celebration and BBQ, Have you returned your forms? Give them to Caroline (parent link)

Joke of the day..? How do you send a baby into space?  You rock it!!!

If you know a good joke or can do a good drawing give them to Chris please!

Mondays Games winners:

The Bumper Cars! – for good effort and participation! Gold medals to them

Security cards

Please remember we can ONLY release your child to someone with a yellow card with the child’s name on it.

Thanks for the positive feedback on the new registration system – if you have any other good ideas then please let us know!

As predicted Chris got a pie in the face yesterday, and we learnt about Zacchaeus. Today it was Sarah and will Alan get to go on a ride tomorrow?

Monday News

Welcome to your first daily newsletter

Our aim this week is to fill you in on what’s happening, this week and future happenings..

This years’ holiday club is set in a theme park, where dreams come true? We all have hopes and dreams and ideas for our lives – things to make us happy, popular, maybe even rich and famous, but it is only at the cross that we can realise our ultimate dream – eternal life and peace with God.

JOKE OF THE DAY... as told by...

Get your jokes, in to Caroline by 10.00 to stand a possibility of inclusion.

A few reminders…. Please can you send your child already suncreamed and with a hat, or with a jacket - we are planning to be outside!

If you would like a 'taster' of what we get up to then you are invited to come back early at 11.45 to go upstairs to the gallery for a cup of coffee and a peek over to see whats going on!

Wednesday is picnic day! We invite you to bring a picnic and join us on the grass (or inside if its wet) after you have collected your child. This will be an excellent opportunity to talk to each other, and your child’s group leaders. It is also a chance for your child to play with new friends. We have found that some friendships made at holiday club last for many years! There maybe a few additional playthings about too!

Friday is 'maybe getting a little wet day...' maybe you could make sure they are prepared?!

Friday is our celebration and BBQ time. We have a final celebration (starts at 6.00) followed by a BBQ. It’s a fab time to come and see what the children have been doing, hear the way the songs they are singing should be sung and an opportunity to be 'part of holiday club 2009'

TODAY in 'Where dreams come true?' we have meet people that met Jesus and found that he changed them and their dreams. How does this make us feel and why?

As last year we have someone here for you as adults! 'PARENT LINK' – Caroline George. I will be around at the beginning and end of every session (and in between !) I will try and answer your queries, questions, big and small, hopefully you will use me to help you through holiday club week!
